New Customer Onboarding

Welcome to VueMotion. Let's get you set up.

Everything you need before your first test: logging in, getting your camera settings right, and recording, submitting and reading back a result.

Before Your First Test

5 STEPS

Work through these in order — camera settings especially, before you record anything.

1
Log inWeb system for review, iOS app for recording.
2
Set your camera up correctly4K/60fps, Auto FPS off — the most common reason a test fails.
3
Learn Accel & Fly setupYour two most common tests, walked through on video.
4
Record, tag, upload, submitThe full workflow from capture to processing.
5
Know what's on your planStarter covers Accel & Fly — the rest is Academy and up.

Two ways in: web or the iOS app.

Use whichever fits what you're doing — most customers end up using both.

Account Setup

Add your athletes and staff.

Do this before your first session — every athlete needs a profile, and it only takes a minute per person.

Critical for every athlete: add their height and weight when you set them up, whether you're using the web system or the app. VueMotion's analysis relies on both — without them, results won't be accurate.

On Enterprise, your VueMotion contact can set up athletes and staff for you.

Before You Record — Do This First

Get your camera settings right, every time.

Wrong camera settings are the most common reason a test doesn't process properly. It takes two minutes to check.

1. Set Record Video to 4K at 60fps

On iPhone: Settings → Camera → Record Video → 4K at 60 fps.

Needs a phone that can actually shoot this — any iPhone with 4K/60fps capability works (iPhone 12 onward).

2. In Record Video, make sure these 5 are OFF

  • Show PAL Formats
  • Enhanced Stabilization
  • Action Mode Lower Light
  • HDR Video
  • Auto FPS

Use Check Cones in the app's recording screen — it gives real-time feedback confirming your cones and camera are positioned correctly before you hit record.

Lock Camera: make sure this is switched OFF before you record.

Before you press record: turn Rotation Lock off and Do Not Disturb on, from Control Centre.

Shown for iPhone. On Android, look for the same options — resolution/frame rate, and anything that automatically adjusts frame rate, turned off — in your camera app's video settings. View the full settings reference →

Setting Up Common Tests

Start with these two.

Acceleration and Fly are the two tests every plan includes — start here.

ACC

Acceleration Setup Starter

How to mark out and position your phone for a 10m or 20m acceleration test.

Full quality on Google Drive ↗
FLY

Fly Setup Starter

Positioning and run-up distance for a 10m or 20m flying sprint.

Open in Google Drive ↗
Example 10m Acceleration test setup — camera positioned low and side-on to the lane, cones marking the start position.
Example: 10m Acceleration setup — camera low and side-on, cones marking the lane.

Leave ~1.5m of clear space beyond the cones on both sides, so your back foot is fully in frame at the start of the sprint. A cropped back foot is one of the most common reasons a result comes back missing.

Setting Up Additional Tests Academy+

The rest of the library, field-ready.

The same cone kit and camera rules from above apply throughout — each card below only lists what's different.

DECEL

Deceleration

  • 10m or 20m, plus a fixed 10m run-up before the start cones (separate cones)
  • Starts on chest crossing the start line, not the back foot
  • Decelerate at the mid-cone and stop before the end cones
  • Camera: sagittal only, 1x zoom, 9m back (10m) or 19m back (20m)
ACC-DEC

Accel-Decel (ADA)

  • 10m or 20m — no separate run-up, standard back-foot start
  • Decelerate at the mid-cone and stop before the end cones
  • Camera: sagittal only, 1x zoom, 9m back (10m) or 19m back (20m)
10-0-5

10-0-5 Change of Direction

  • 10m lane — sprint 10m out, return 5m to cross the mid-cone and finish
  • Foot-plant side depends on direction of travel
  • Run twice, once from the left and once from the right, for comparison
  • Camera: sagittal only, approx. 9m back, 1x zoom
5-10-5

5-10-5 Pro-Agility Shuttle

  • 10m lane, cones labelled A, B (centre, 5m mark) and C
  • 3-point stance straddling Cone B — the down hand sets the first direction
  • Pattern: 5m to A or C, 10m to the opposite cone, 5m back through B (20m total)
  • Camera: sagittal only, centred on Cone B, approx. 9m back, 1x zoom
HOP3

3 Hop Test

  • 10m lane — starts on the front foot leaving the ground, not the back foot
  • No other person in the capture zone, sagittal or coronal
  • Camera: sagittal landscape, approx. 9m back, 1x zoom, plus a coronal camera in portrait, 5m back from the finish line, 3x zoom
DROP

Drop Jump

  • Not the standard lane — a 60cm box on a solid surface, solid landing area in front
  • Drop point marked 20cm out from the centre of the box
  • 2 cameras, both 5m from the drop marker, portrait: 1 sagittal + 1 coronal
CMJ

CMJ (Vertical Jump)

  • Not the standard lane — 4 cones set out in a 1.5m square
  • 2 cameras, both 5m from the jump marker, portrait: 1 sagittal + 1 coronal
BROAD

Broad Jump

  • 5m lane — start cones mark the take-off line
  • Jump forward off both feet; landing must be controlled, no fall or extra step
  • Camera: sagittal landscape, approx. 5m back, framing the full arc, plus a coronal camera in portrait at the landing end, approx. 5m back

Full diagrams for every test, including the standard 5-cone lane set-up, are in the VueMotion Test Set-Up Manual ↗.

Recording a Test

Record, tag, upload, submit.

The same four-stage flow behind every test, on every plan.

1

Record

Capture the test on the VueMotion app, using the camera settings above.

2

Tag

Label the clip with the test type — and the athlete, if you're testing a squad — so it's ready to process.

3

Move to the cloud

Your tagged clip uploads automatically once you're back on Wi-Fi or reception.

4

Submit for processing

Send it to the AI system for analysis. On Enterprise, your VueMotion contact does this step for you.

Exact screens may vary slightly by app version — the video alongside walks through the current flow.

Don't trim your videos — either in the app or in your phone's camera roll — before uploading.

No iPhone, or not using the app?

You don't need the VueMotion app to get a video into the system. In order of what we recommend:

  1. Log in from your phone's browser and upload directly. Go to vuemotion.ai/login, then Import/Upload Videos. Works on any phone — this is the simplest option if you're not on iOS or not using the app.
  2. On iOS but not using the app? AirDrop the video to a Mac, then upload from the Mac's browser. Important: in AirDrop's send options, change the format from Automatic to Current — otherwise the video gets re-compressed and loses the quality VueMotion needs to process it.
  3. On Android and don't want to upload from your phone's browser? Transfer the file to a laptop via USB cable or Bluetooth, then upload from the laptop's browser instead.

Once it's uploaded, tagging and submitting for AI processing work the same way as above — just from the web platform instead of the app. Full details on all upload methods: VueMotion User Guide ↗

After Processing

See exactly what comes back.

Everything lives on the video's own page — the annotated footage, the numbers, and a downloadable report.

RESULTS

Viewing Your Results

A full walkthrough of what lands on a video's page once processing finishes.

Open in Google Drive ↗
  • Annotated result video — joint angles, foot-strike markers and a live speed curve overlaid directly on the footage.
  • Headline metrics — distance, average and max speed, step length, step frequency, ground contact time and flight time.
  • Left vs right breakdown, plus a stride-by-stride table for spotting asymmetry.
  • A downloadable PDF report for every processed video, and a frame-by-frame Kinograms view.
  • Individual and squad dashboards — track an athlete, or a whole squad, over time rather than one test at a time.

Sharing Without an Account

Share a result with anyone — no login needed.

Don't want to set an athlete or parent up with their own VueMotion account? Share a single video's results instead.

  1. Open the video.
  2. Scroll to the three dots at the bottom right of the video and select Share.
  3. Toggle on Results.
  4. Click Share to generate a URL.

Frequently Asked

Common questions in your first week.

Why do my camera settings matter so much?

The wrong settings — Auto FPS left on, or recording below 4K/60fps — are the most common reason a submitted video can't be processed correctly, or comes back with inaccurate data. Check the five settings above before every session, not just your first one.

Which tests are included on my plan?

Starter includes Acceleration and Fly. The full nine-test library — including both change-of-direction tests, jumps and the 3 Hop Test — is available from Academy upward. Check your account or ask your VueMotion contact if you're not sure what's included.

How long does testing actually take?

A squad can be tested in a few minutes, indoors or outdoors, fitting inside an existing training session. No lab bookings, no marker sets, no dedicated operator.

How long until my results come back?

Once you submit a video, it's processed automatically. Turnaround depends on system load at the time, so we don't quote a fixed number — if you're waiting on something time-sensitive, flag it with your VueMotion contact.

I paid, but my account still shows as free. What do I do?

Bank transfers can take up to 5 business days to clear. If you're anxious about access in the meantime, send your remittance through to info@vuemotion.com and your subscription can be applied immediately, ahead of the funds clearing.

What currency will I be billed in, and can I change it?

The subscription page auto-detects AUD, USD or GBP. You can change it from the top of the subscription page in a browser. The mobile app sometimes locks to a single currency — use the browser if you need to switch.

I'm on Enterprise — do I still need to upload and submit videos myself?

No. On Enterprise, the VueMotion team handles the clip, tag and process workflow for you. You'll still record and share footage, but you're not the one submitting it for processing.

Ready to run your first test?

Check your camera settings, log in, and you'll have your first result back the same week.
