The tests

Choose a guide

Jump to a group, or straight to a test.

Speed & acceleration

Straight-line speed, from a standing start to top speed.

Braking & deceleration

Stopping from speed: where many non-contact injuries happen.

Change of direction

180° turns named approach – turn – exit, plus the 60° cut. All 180° tests share one 5-cone setup.

Which test?

Start from the question you need answered

Are they quick off the mark?
Use the Acceleration test: splits, max acceleration and how the first six steps produce them.
How fast is their top speed, and is it safe?
Use the Fly test: max speed, Step Quality and SMAS faults linked to hamstring injury.
Can they stop and turn, on both sides?
Use a 180° COD test: 10-0-5 or 10-0-10 from a 10 m approach, 5-0-5 or 5-0-10 in tighter spaces.
Who cuts in a way that loads the knee?
Use the CMAS cut test: an ACL-focused screen of cutting posture.
Are they powerful, fresh, and landing well?
Use the CMJ: jump height and strategy for power and fatigue, knee valgus for landing control.
Is each leg as strong as the other?
Use the Triple Hop: single-leg distance, contact times and limb symmetry for return to sport.
Can they brake hard from speed?
Use Deceleration or ADA, then ADR to see the restart too.
Do they have springy, reactive legs?
Use the Drop Jump: reactive strength index, contact time and landing.
Testing a school or youth group?
Use Run-Jump-Throw and the Broad Jump for a quick, all-round profile.
Early rehab: can they land on one leg?
Start with the Single-Leg Drop & Hold, then the Single-Leg CMJ and Single-Leg Hop.
How does the athlete run?
Use Treadmill Gait for jogging and the SMAS Sprint Screen for sprinting.
Need a validated landing score?
Use the LESS drop vertical jump.

Run together, Acc and Fly give the full sprint profile, 10-0-5 adds braking and turning, CMAS screens cutting technique, and the CMJ tracks power, fatigue and landing control, the triple hop checks single-leg power and left–right symmetry, and the deceleration family, drop jump and athletics tests fill in braking, reactive strength and event technique. All results support coaching and clinical judgement; they do not diagnose or predict an individual injury.

The same three steps

1

Record

Set out the cones, place the iPhone(s) as the guide shows, choose the athlete and test tag in the VueMotion app, and record.

2

Upload

Upload the original files from the app and submit the AI request. Avoid AirDrop or messaging apps, which can change the frame rate.
